Art has been the one constant throughout my life, helping me deal with
anything that came my way. I use art to express my thoughts and feelings
where words fail me. Someone once asked me what I felt or thought about
when I created art and I had no answer because there were no words to
describe myself. My favorite pieces tend to contain a lot of thoughts and
feelings and I usually can't explain the meanings behind my them for lack
of words.
I have taught myself most of what I know through books, videos and
experimentation. I took a couple art classes throughout grade school and
would love to attend an art college soon. My art tends to range from
realistic portraits to abstract works and photography. I have been using
mostly oil paints recently, but I will also use anything from graphite and
colored pencils to oil paints and water colors. Occasionally I'll mix the
mediums into one piece just to see what happens. Most of my art is a mix
between spontaneity and careful planning and tends to reflect the mood I
was in at the time.
I have recently come to truely understand that art is the essence of the
person creating it. The most beautiful pieces I have seen seem to reflect
a piece of the artist's heart and soul. I keep that in mind when I create
my art now and have been producing the best works I have ever done. I try
not to force my art as much because I am never really happy with the
results.
I have met, and continue to meet, many people who inspire me to continue
my work every day. My fiancé has taught me to let go and to not be afraid
of letting the art form itself. My pottery teacher taught me how to work
with my 'mistakes' and turn them into something that Iooked beautiful and
intentional. An artist friend taught me that it's okay to use any tools
necessary to achieve the look you want. She has also helped me see that
one artist can have several different styles. Other people have taught me
many different lessons, many of which I incorporate in my art and my daily
life. All of these people have shown me that it is possible to do what you
love for a living. They have helped me to keep my dream alive and I am now
working towards living my dream of creating art and a living every day.
Personal Interests: I'm always thinking of new things
to create. I love to read, write, and watch movies. I love the outdoors
and will hike, bike, climb and explore any chance I get.
Artistic Interests: I like to dabble in a little bit of
everything. I crochets, knit, cross stitch, paint, draw and sew. I'm going
to get into wood carving soon, as well as wood turning. I would love to
learn stained glass and metal work as well.
